What a Search Warrant Looks Like

A search warrant is a type of court order, signed by a judge or magistrate. As such, a search warrant satisfies the requirements of the New Jersey library confidentiality statute (N.J.S.A. 18A:73-43.1 et seq.).

See a federal search warrant here.

See a state search warrant here.

The state search warrant is a fill-in-the-blank form.

For purposes of the library confidentiality statute, a significant difference between a search warrant and a subpoena is that a subpoena gives you advance notice, and time to respond to the request for evidence. A search warrant, by contrast, must be executed immediately.
